Noni Lotion “A First Aid Kit in a Bottle”
Many of you have tried and experienced the effectiveness of the Noni Lavender Lotion, Icy Heat Noni Lotion and our newest lotion, the Sports Formula Icy Heat Noni Lotion. In this month’s newsletter, I would like to look into the many uses (such as skin irritations and pain relief), plus revisit several of the published articles that explain the research done on noni fruit and the effects on these conditions.
Noni Lavender Lotion
Our first noni lotion (Noni Lavender Lotion) was developed many years ago while working with Melody Toth, a sports trainer at the University of Hawaii. It was originally developed to help athletes with sports injuries by providing pain relief.
However, we quickly learned through feedback from folks using the Noni Lavender Lotion about the true broad based healing properties for many skin irritations and pain relief. The Noni Lavender Lotion quickly became called “A First Aid Kit in a Bottle” since it soothes so many skin irritations.
-rashes and itching
-inflammation & pain relief
-natural exfoliate for cleansing the skin
-age spots and skin tone and texture
The “Doctors Prescription for Healthy Living” has published two articles dealing with the power of Noni fruit to address the above list of skin irritations. Both articles, “Noni – Skin Healer and Protector” and “Prevent Unwanted Age Spots with Noni”, link to the respective articles. Click on the titles to learn more and read the full articles.
Here are some highlights:
“Noni – Skin Healer and Protector”
“Aloha! I purchased the noni fruit leather as well as the Lavender Noni Lotion. I have been suffering from troubled skin. I’ve been on prescription pills, used brutal skin cremes that only tortured my skin even further and it wasn’t until I started using the lotion and ingesting the leather that I have noticed a huge difference in my skin. Bottom line: my skin has never in the past 12 years of my life looked as amazing as it does now. I am a forever customer and believer in this product and just want to thank you for producing it. Much love from the north.”
"Prevent Unwanted Age Spots with Noni"
One of the first scientific confirmations of the wisdom of the South Seas islanders who knew about the healing properties of noni fruit, came in 2005 from the Journal of Medicinal Food.
Researchers from Coreana Skin Science Research Center in Cheonan, Republic of Korea, noted that they found that Morinda citrifolia fruit extract up-regulated biosynthesis of type I collagen and glycosaminoglycans. This means that noni fruit has a rejuvenating, beneficial effect on cells’ ability to produce basic building blocks of healthy skin. Researchers discovered a plant chemical belonging to the anthraquinone family was responsible for this effect. “It was revealed that anthraquinone showed significantly increased elaboration of procollagen type I C-terminal peptide and glycosaminoglycans and reduced expression of the collagenase matrix metalloproteinase 1 dose-dependently in human dermal fi broblasts.”
In other words, noni fruit promotes rebuilding skin tissue while simultaneously stopping brown spots and freckles.
So what about inflammation and pain relief?
For years, the University of Hawaii used the Lavender Noni Lotion for inflammation, pain relief and the healing of sports injuries. Then while working with Melody Toth, the sports trainer, we developed the Icy Heat Noni lotion by adding menthol crystals and camphor oil. Mel found that the response time for pain relief, reducing inflammation and healing muscles was quicker. The menthol and camphor is used as a tool to open up the pours of the skin and allow for faster penetration of the Noni fruit.
In the article, “Why We Love to Rub Noni on Our Bodies”
Mel talks about using our Noni lotions for:
-Sore ankles and heels
-Tired legs (cramps)
-Quadricep and hamstring injuries
-Low back pain
-Trauma and minor contusions (bruises)
-Repetitive motion injuries
The article also mentions:
THE SCOPOLETIN CONNECTION
Studies have demonstrated that noni is rich in scopoletin. Among its wide-ranging pharmacological effects are anti-inflammatory, pain-relieving and sedative activities. The body also utilizes scopoletin for smooth joint movement.
For me, it is not just the scopoletin in the pulp of Noni fruit but all the many other compounds (over 165 compounds) that work together with the cells of the body to allow the body to heal itself. Raw noni is food for the cells of the body that penetrate the cell walls and work with the body as to support a healthy response to inflammation. What an amazing fruit!!
What about the Sports Formula Icy Heat Noni Lotion?
Finally, our new Sports Formula Icy Heat Noni lotion has 1% more menthol and camphor than regular Icy Heat Noni Lotion. This promotes a faster response for pain relief. Many people attest to the speed for pain relief.
Mahalo from everyone on the farm!
