This month is National American Diabetes Month.
Over the years we have had many people report to us that the Noni Fruit Leather has helped them maintain blood sugar levels that are already within the normal range. There is a lot of published research that has shown raw noni pulp to be a high anti-inflammatory and antioxidant which addresses the inflammation diseases. Diabetes is labeled as one of the inflammation diseases. Raw noni pulp is also very low in carbohydrates (sugar). We just received our 2018 Supplemental Fact Test results for updating our Noni Fruit Leather label from UBE Labs in California.
The amount of Sugar in our Noni Fruit Leather: 0
Being this is National American Diabetes Month, it is always good to remember that you are what you eat. Sugar is known to cause serious health problems including diabetes, obesity, heart disease and tooth decay. Consumers have become wise to this, but did you know that numerous studies have estimated that anywhere from 60% to 74% of packaged foods contain added sugar, often disguised under a different name.
Fruit, vegetables and dairy products contain some natural sugar, but they also contain beneficial fiber, nutrients and various compounds. Noni, as a raw food is used to maintain overall good health as it has 165 beneficial compounds and is low in sugar – less than 1% - that is why Noni fruit is tart and not sweet to the taste.
The U.S Food and Drug Administration (FDA) requires food producers to disclose ingredients. Unfortunately, many food manufacturers have found ways to hide the total amount of sugar by listing it under several different names. As further Food for Thought, please revisit this site that we shared with you last year which lists the various names used to disguise sugar in your food. Sugar is the number one cause for diabetes.
The Health Science Academy has identified 65 alternative names for sugar. Click on the Health Science Academy to be amazed at all the “alternative names for sugar” in your food.
The American Diabetes Association recommends keeping blood-sugar levels in the range of 80-120 mg/dl before meals and 100-140 mg/dl at bedtime. Diabetes can be properly managed with blood pressure and cholesterol control, careful self-testing of blood glucose levels, exercise, meal planning, weight control and medications.
