Noni and Natural Antioxidants
This month is National Healthy Aging Month and what better way to age healthier than with Noni!! Thousands of years ago, ancient Polynesians and Hawaiians learned from personal experience that Noni as raw food promoted overall good health and wellness. Research has identified 165 beneficial compounds in the pulp of Noni which makes Noni very broad based in terms of benefits to the body.
The antioxidant test at the independent lab was an eye opener and confirmation for all of us at Hawaiian Organic Noni that we are maintaining the potency of the raw pulp of Noni.
Several years ago, we sent our Noni Fruit Leather and two commercial Noni Juices to an independent lab in California to measure the amounts of antioxidants in each product. Antioxidants neutralize free radicals produced by poor diet, environmental exposure, stress and toxic personal habits. The U.S Department of Agriculture has determined that a person should be consuming foods and supplements with at least 3000-5000 ORAC units per day.
Our Noni Fruit Leather came back 14 times more potent than fermented Noni Juice and off the chart with antioxidants. At 100 grams, Noni Juice contained 1,506 units of antioxidants and our Noni Fruit Leather contained 340,000 units. The potency is in the pulp and not letting Noni ferment!!
On our certified organic family farm, we strive to provide the full potency of the pulp of Noni. We grow, pick, process and distribute our organic Noni products using our unique low-heat dehydration method below 115 F. But most importantly, we never let Noni ferment into a juice which creates alcohol that destroys the beneficial compounds in the raw pulp (as the antioxidant test confirms).
In honor of Healthy Aging Month, we share with you an article written in the Doctor’s Prescription for Healthy Living titled- Hammer Aging with the Noni Fruit Leather Antioxidant Power.
Article of the Month –Hammer Aging & Antioxidants
According to the modern free radical theory of aging, including higher amounts of antioxidants into your diet slows the oxidation process and free radical damage that contributes to age-related degeneration and disease. The National Institutes of Health developed a method of determining the oxygen radical absorbency capacity ORAC) for foods.
Studies indicate that the antioxidant activity of his ORAC foods that protect cells can
- Raise the antioxidant power of human blood
- Prevent some loss of long-term memory and learning ability
- Maintain the ability of brain cells to respond to chemical stimulus and protect tiny blood vessels (capillaries) against oxygen damage
From the article, “When recently studied for its own antioxidant potential per daily serving, Noni Fruit Leather served 340,000 ORAC units per 100 grams, according to UBE Analytical Laboratories of Fullerton, CA. This makes Noni Fruit Leather more potent per serving size and more plentiful with antioxidant power per serving than cloves, apples, blueberries, pomegranates, raisins and grapes. When used in a daily two-by-two-inch serving size, Noni Fruit Leather provides 6024 ORAC units, when 3000-5000 units are recommended to keep one healthy.
As I quickly approach 69 years old, my personal experience from eating the Noni Fruit Leather every day is an abundance of energy, great memory retention and a strong immune system. As raw food, Noni keeps me healthy!!
Is Noni a miracle? No! Does Noni promote overall good health? Absolutely, if you do not destroy the potency of the raw pulp. The Noni Lavender Lotion is 99.2% Noni Fruit Leather in a water base to be absorbed by the skin tissue to promote healthy skin and help address a wide array of skin irritations.
Other News: Animal Rescue – Hurricane Harvey in Texas
I received a phone call from Dr. Caroline O’Sullivan, DVM from Prescott, Az. She is packing up and heading to Texas to help in the animal rescue of thousands of animals effected by the flooding waters of Hurricane Harvey. We sent a large care package of Noni Lavender lotions, Noni Biobandage and Noni Fruit Leather to help in her efforts. She indicated that she will be bringing many of the abandoned animals back to her facility in Arizona. If you choose to help in her efforts, please visit her website at www.HolisticAnimalCareAZ.org and scroll down the home page to the donate button. Any donation would be greatly appreciate by Dr. O’Sullivan and the animals.
To Your Health: You Are What You Eat – Sugar!!!
Sugar is known to cause serious health problems including diabetes, obesity, heart disease and tooth decay. Consumers have become wise to this, but did you know that numerous studies have estimated that anywhere from 60% to 74% of packaged foods contain added sugar, often disguised under a different name.
Fruit, vegetables and dairy products contain some natural sugar, but they also contain beneficial fiber, nutrients and various compounds. Fortunately, Noni is used to fight diabetes, etc as it has 165 beneficial compounds and low in sugar – less than 1% - that is why Noni fruit is tart and not sweet to the taste.
The U.S Food and Drug Administration (FDA) requires food producers to disclose ingredients. Unfortunately, many have found ways to hide the total amount of sugar by listing it under several different names.
The Health Science Academy has identified 65 alternative names for sugar. Click on the Health Science Academy to be amazed at all the “alternative names for sugar” in your food.
Mahalo from everyone at Hawaiian Organic Noni. Let's all age gracefully!
