Steve Frailey has spent over 30 years cultivating his 37 acre farm on Kauai, Hawaii and is viewed as a pioneer in Noni cultivation. He has been in Hawaii since 1981. He and his business partner, Scott Jarvis, worked to get the farm certified organic through the USDA and provide a valuable product for customers and an educational experience to visitors. They currently invite people to visit their Hawaiian Organic Noni farm on regular farm tours. Noni is cultivated and processed on site. Open to the public 3 times a week by reservation, the farm offers a wonderful opportunity to learn more about Noni.

Noni: A Brief History

The ancient Polynesian people looked for new islands to colonize in what is known as the French Polynesian Islands and in 400 A.D., the Hawaiian islands. Noni was one of the 27 “canoe plants” brought over when the Polynesians migrated to Hawaii. These plants provided food, fiber, building materials and medicine. Noni, or Morinda Citrifolia, was brought over as a medicinal plant.

The Inspiration Behind the Noni Farm

Steve Frailey has been operating his Hawaiian Organic Noni farm on Kauai. He says that he at first, “didn’t understand” the Noni fruit or its impact on health. About 25 years ago Scott Jarvis, a business partner in starting the noni business with Steve, ate Noni and brought back good health by relieving some persistent conditions. Scott then gave Steve some fruit and after Steve ate it he immediately noticed an increase in energy. After a consuming noni over a period of time he noticed his immune system strengthened. Steve is passionate about his product and his good health testifies to the value of long-term consumption of Noni.

The Health Benefits of Noni

Steve worked with Melody Toth, a head athletic trainer at the University of Hawaii developing Noni Lotions made with the raw pulp of noni.
